      This is a fixed term / secondment for 12 months

      An opportunity has arisen for an experienced NHS Payroll Officer to join a small in-house team, working as part of the Finance Department on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.

      This may be a ideal opportunity for staff looking for experience at Band 4.

      You will work as part of a team of 6, covering the payroll and pensions service for 4300 staff of Barnsley Foundation Trust and 500 employees of Barnsley Facilities Services Ltd. We offer flexi-time and hybrid working.

      Hospital Support Services; Finance, HR, IT and Payroll are based away from the Hospital site, in the modern Gateway Plaza development, with easy access to Barnsley town centre and the Transport Interchange.

      Previous payroll experience is essential. A knowledge of processing employee pay on ESR and an understanding of NHS terms and conditions are desirable. You will also be involved with processing staff benefits including: Salary Sacrifice Lease Cars, Vivup orders, Salary Finance loans, Wagestream queries and Pension administration.

      Main duties of the job

      Responsible for processing a section of the Trust payroll, dealing with; New Starters, Leavers, Promotions, Hour changes, Parental leave, Annual Leave etc

      Approving and loading various requests for flexible benefits: Lease cars, vivup tech, bike to work etc.

      Ensuring staff have the correct pension deductions

      Calculating Overpayments, adjusting ESR and raising invoices
