      Department Summary

      Within this intern role, you will be supporting the Clinical Operations group within Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) Operations and the broader gRED and Roche-Genentech organization.

      About gRED ECD Clinical Operations

      gRED ECD Clinical Operations provides expertise for clinical trials that support the overall early development strategies of the gRED portfolio. The team provides specialized expertise to support the advancement of groundbreaking therapies.

      The gRED IRHE Pillar Team is dedicated to advancing health equity, improving access, and creating personalized healthcare solutions for all patients. This includes innovating clinical trial delivery to meet disease-specific needs, enabling greater diversity and inclusion in trials. The team supports gRED molecule teams in integrating inclusive research strategies into clinical development plans and fosters a cultural shift toward consciously applying IRHE principles in daily practices and decision-making.

      This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

      The Opportunity

      • Lead and Collaborate

        • Plan, facilitate, and execute initiatives for gRED’s Inclusive Research and Health Equity (IRHE) Pillar Team and Clinical Operations Sub-Team.

        • Represent gRED ECD Clinical Operations on cross-functional teams addressing inclusivity and health equity in clinical development.

      • Explore and Innovate

        • Research and summarize emerging topics like patient-centric trial designs, digital health tools, and innovative recruitment strategies.

        • Provide fresh insights from conferences, webinars, and stakeholder interviews to shape ongoing projects.

      • Analyze and Organize

        • Leverage tools and technologies to access, assess, and analyze data, supporting strategic decision-making.

        • Develop and maintain repositories to track and report progress on inclusive research and health equity efforts.

      • Learn and Engage

        • Shadow professionals in roles such as Clinical Program Directors and Global Clinical Trial Leaders to gain insights into clinical trial management.

        • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to integrate diverse perspectives into research initiatives.

      • Communicate and Impact

        • Develop presentations and communications to showcase progress and propose ideas.

        • Support the execution of organizational campaigns, IRHE-related forums, and strategic documents to drive alignment and impact.

      Program Highlights

      • Intensive 12 months, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

      • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

      • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship

      • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects

      • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry

      Who You Are (Required)

      Required Education : You meet one of the following criteria:

      Senior undergraduate, recent graduate, or Master's degree holder in a science or healthcare field.

      Required Experience and Qualifications:

      • Proactive and Adaptable: Self-motivated, able to work independently, and navigate ambiguity with ease.

      • Organized and Detail-Oriented: Skilled in managing multiple projects, ensuring high-quality execution with strong time management.

      • Collaborative and Communicative: A team player who builds positive relationships, communicates effectively, and shares ideas with diverse audiences.

      • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in tools like Google Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support project needs.

      Required Majors: None required (open to any major).

      Required Skills:

      • Create compelling presentations; review critical documents; represent function in pan-Roche initiatives.

      • Support ongoing initiatives and champion best practices for inclusive research and health equity.

      Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

      • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

      • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

      • Resourceful in navigating complex and large organizations.

      • Experience working with AI, analytical and computational tools and technologies.

      • Experience creating, developing content for and managing websites.

      Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

      The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position in California is $31.00 - $40.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
