1:10 Self-Contained Special Education Aide Technician for Low-Functioning Classroom

Job Description
- Req#: 5111712
- Assist a certified Special Education teacher with teaching as directed
- Monitor students in the classroom, lunch room, bathroom area, hallways, and during recess time
- Assist with data collecting of behaviors
- Prepare curriculum materials and activities for instruction
- Help with maintaining a safe/clean classroom
- Work one on one with students when needed
- Change diapers/training pants as needed
- Assist with toilet training per IEP
- Assist student with feeding as needed
- Assist with life/functional skills
- Assist with medically fragile students within medical guidelines
- Assist with other classes as directed by supervisor and/or principal
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- RBT certification preferred
- Clean background check
- Pass Paraprofessional Assessment at hire or have 60 college hours
- Participate in required Paraprofessional module trainings provided by ADE
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Be able to stand the majority of the school day
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, lift, carry and squat to assist students as needed
- Be able to run after a student the runs from the classroom, line, etc.
- Be able to walk on uneven surfaces
- Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duty. This includes recess, before school drop offs and after school pick- ups.
