Job Description
- Req#: 1019
- Deliver Outstanding Member Service: You’ll provide enthusiastic, timely, and attentive service, ensuring that every member and guest feels welcome and well cared for. Your professional presence and upbeat attitude will help create a high-quality, personalized dining experience from start to finish.
- Restaurant Operations & Team Support: You’ll rotate between multiple dining outlets based on the club’s needs, always stepping in where support is needed most. Teamwork is key in this role — you’ll be the type of person who offers a helping hand without being asked, and who contributes positively to the overall energy of the floor. Daily pre-shift meetings will keep you informed, allowing you to pass along important information to our guests with confidence.
- Service Excellence & Attention to Detail: You’ll follow our established service timeline and standards with precision, using suggestive selling techniques to enhance the guest experience. You’ll also take pride in knowing the menu inside and out — being able to describe ingredients and preparation methods for each dish. From completing side work to keeping your section clean and organized, you’ll be attentive to every detail that contributes to a smooth shift.
- Professionalism & Safety: You’ll maintain a polished appearance and demonstrate safe, professional conduct at all times. Understanding and following the club’s safety procedures will be part of your daily routine, as will treating all restaurant equipment with care. You’ll also contribute to major holiday and banquet events, offering support when and where it’s needed most.
- Experience & Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years of serving experience in a fast-paced dining environment along with current Food Handler’s and OLCC permits. Experience with high service standards and a background in hospitality will serve you well here.
- Service & Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills — both verbal and interpersonal — are essential. You'll have a warm, optimistic attitude and a natural ability to engage with members and guests in a courteous, professional way. Being approachable and helpful comes second nature to you.
- Multitasking & Adaptability: You’ll need to be quick on your feet, juggling multiple tables and tasks at once without missing a beat. This role requires flexibility, as you’ll move between different outlets and adjust to changing needs on the fly. Working evenings, weekends, holidays, and longer shifts is something you're comfortable with and prepared for.
- Physical & Technical Skills: You’ll spend most of your shift on your feet, walking, talking, and moving between tables. You should be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and confidently carry trays with food and beverages. Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and equipment is expected.
- Full-time employees: Enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Facility access: Free access to our exercise room and classes, climbing gym, and pools.
- Convenience: Free parking and discounted public transportation passes.
- Retirement: Participate in our 401(k) program with an employer match.
- Well-being: Access our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for free.
- Perks: Enjoy discounts on club services and meals.
Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland’s most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It’s like a small city unto itself.
