      JOB TITLE: Site Supervisor, Split Rock Lighthouse


      OPEN TO: This job is open to current MNHS staff working at the Split Rock Lighthouse.


      LOCATION: Split Rock Lighthouse, 3713 Split Rock Lighthouse Road, Two Harbors MN 55616

      COMPENSATION: $22.81 hourly minimum (approximately $47,440.00 annual minimum)


      STATUS & HOURS: Full-time, regular (approximately 2,080 annual hours) position.


      BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in State Employee Group Insurance Program and a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals with additional paid holidays.

      DESCRIPTION: This position exists to coordinate the daily operations of Split Rock Lighthouse, including museum store retail operations, and to provide direct supervision of assigned staff.


      SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Coordinate daily Split Rock Lighthouse museum store retail operations; 2) Provide direct supervision to assigned staff; 3) Oversee reporting and financial procedures for admissions, museum store, and facility rentals; and 4) Oversee the site operations as part of a site leadership team.


      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

      • Two years experience in leading daily operations, retail operations, or programs of a museum or similar facility.

      • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise personnel, including: scheduling, hiring, strengthening positive workplace culture, and performance management to ensure success towards organizational goals.

      • Knowledge of retail operations, product ordering, inventory management, product development, cash handling requirements, management and related duties.

      • Strong customer service background.

      • Strong oral and written communication skills.

      • Strong organizational skills.

      • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

      • Strong human relations, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

      • Computer skills and technical proficiency.

      • Record keeping skills sufficient to maintain thorough and accurate records.

      • Ability to analyze data, make recommendations and prepare summary reports.

      • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs; up to 50 lbs with a team lift.

      • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

      • Ability to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; turn, twist, or bend at waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

      • Ability and willingness to travel.

      • Valid driver’s license.


      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Broad knowledge of Minnesota history.

      • Knowledge of American lighthouse history and Great Lakes and North Shore information in general.
