      Linklaters is currently accepting applications from first-year U.S. J.D. students to join our 2024 U.S. Summer Associate Program as a 1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Scholar in our New York office. 1L LCLD Scholars are members of our U.S. summer associate class and participate fully in our 10-week summer associate program.

      Throughout the program, you will gain valuable experience working with attorneys across multiple practice areas and offices. You will receive formal training and mentoring from experienced partners and associates, and have the opportunity to attend associate trainings, practice group meetings and client events. You will also participate in pro bono work and corporate responsibility initiatives.

      Upon successful completion of the summer program, 1L LCLD Scholars are eligible to earn an offer to return to Linklaters the following summer as a Making Links 2L Diversity Fellow, with the opportunity to earn a US$50,000 stipend.

      In addition, Scholars are afforded the benefits of the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity's 1L LCLD Scholars Program, including:

      • 1L LCLD Scholars Summit: Each class of Scholars is invited to this annual event, which includes panel discussions, distinguished speakers, and networking opportunities for the Scholars with LCLD Members and each other.

      • Interview preparation: Scholars will have an opportunity to participate in a mock interview with attorneys from LCLD Member law firms.

      • Networking: There is a Linkedln group dedicated to articles and discussions relevant to 1L LCLD Scholars. All are invited to join.

      The current salary for summer associates is $4,327 per week.

      Founded in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is an organization of more than 200 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who have dedicated themselves to creating a truly diverse U.S. legal profession.
