Understanding of Chevron’s businesses, organizations, and commercial roles and responsibilities across the S&T functions.
Understanding of logistics involved in the transportation and infrastructure across commodities, as well as commodity specifications and blending value.
Analytical skills such as market fundamentals and technical critical to the commercialization of commodities.
Effective working relationships across S&T functions.
Negotiation skills, understanding of deal structure, regulatory and trading compliance requirements, and contractual terms, and skills to manage risk exposure including forward curve generation, market-to-market calculation and reporting, and value-at-risk calculation/effect to trading.
In depth understanding of commodities, markets drivers, transportation and infrastructure required by owning specific responsibilities to manage and to deliver results in the hiring S&T organization.
Ability to create direct impact to a supply and trading portfolio or business segment.
Drive improvements to existing process by showcasing skills and knowledge acquired during TRIP and internships.
Build a strong network across the business by developing effective internal and external working relationships.
Demonstrate and put into practice negotiation skills, understanding of deal structure, regulatory and trading compliance requirements, and contractual terms, and/or risk exposure skills.
Business Analysis: analyzes and monitors organizational and business performance for the region and commodity of responsibility. Works closely with trading, operations, accounting, finance, risk control, and other regional trading offices to analyze and report earnings, exposures, and mark-to-market positions.
Commercial Analysis : analyzes and provides views on market fundamentals, industry developments and pricing structures relevant to the successful framing, development, and execution of the commodity trading strategies.
Operations/Scheduling manages transportation logistics, quality, and quantity control across pipelines, trucks, rails, and ships to executed commercial transactions executed by the trading teams.
Bachelor’s degree
Successful completion of the Texas A&M Trading, Risk and Investment Program – Certificate of graduation
Candidates should be commercially orientated with sound business judgment, self-starters with strong communication skills
Able to multi-task in a dynamic, domestic, and international team environment
Ability to work varying schedules, including addressing issues during weekends, consistent with business standards and needs
Commercial Acumen-Recognizes market drivers and grasps concepts around overall commercial strategies.
Decision Making & Ability to Execute-Assertive and able to make timely decisions with limited information and/or time.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $102,000 annually. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.

As part of Chevron Midstream, Supply and Trading (S&T) is the commercial link to the market for Upstream and Downstream & Chemicals (DS&C). S&T applies its knowledge of commodity markets, the crude-to-customer value chain and transportation logistics in the crude, gas, and refined products markets to maximize the value of enterprise assets and enable the commercial success of Upstream and DS&C. S&T integrates enterprise-wide supply and trading capabilities to capture commercial opportunities across the entire value chain through commercial functional excellence.
Texas A&M TRIP Program – Hiring Process:
Chevron S&T, as a member of the advisory board for the Texas A&M Trading, Risk and Investment Program (TRIP), supports the program by hiring graduating students through the university’s permanent hiring process. This year Chevron will consider hiring graduating TRIP student(s) following either of two possible S&T job scenarios: Commercial Skill Development (CSD) Program or Direct into Assignment.
Commercial Skills Development Program Full-Time:
Candidate students who have been able to intern with Chevron will be candidates for our CSD Program as the first permanent position. The program is designed to accelerate the commercial capabilities of the individual by providing hands-on experience across various commodities (crude, refined products, NGL, LNG, and natural gas). The development program is split into 4 six-month rotational work assignments, based on candidates’ background and development needs. Participants are expected to gain cross-S&T exposure by having rotational assignment in our Products/Renewables, Crude, and Gas Supply and Trading organization, as well as participating in one rotation related to our Shipping, Value Chain Optimization, or Value Chain Strategy and Commercial organizations.

Direct into Job Assignment:
Candidate students who interned with Chevron or whose TRIP internships have provided them with enough experience and exposure to commodities and business across supply and trading organizations may be considered for non-rotational positions directly into one of our S&T organizations. Individuals hired directly into a non-rotational job will work with their direct supervisor on development opportunities and overall exposure to our S&T business and leaders.
