Model Risk Management (MRM) –Ensures the accuracy and reliability of models used across the company.
Risk Modeling Group (RMG) –Develops models used for credit forecasting and decisioning, pre-provision net revenue, compliance, and operational risk.
Independent Testing & Validation (IT&V) –Evaluates the effectiveness of controls and risk management activities. Supports testing engagements through data acquisition, data validation, anomaly detection, code/logic review, analysis, and research.
Using Python, R, C++, SAS, SQL or other programming languages as well as mathematical/statistical packages for model development and validation
Performing mathematical model development and validation (risk assessment) under the direction of experienced team members
Producing required documentation to evidence model development or validation
Understanding business needs and providing possible solutions through clear verbal and written communications to management and fellow team members
Participating in model risk projects for varying purposes, methods, and relevant lines of business
Staying current with bank regulatory framework and developments
Bringing closure to issues, questions, and requests
Collaborating as a member of a team to solve problems that arise
Presenting solutions effectively to a variety of audiences
Enrolled in master’s degree program with an expected graduation date in 2025 or later in Data Science and Business Analytics
Completed undergraduate degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics/Econometrics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
Courses in model risk management, text mining and/or information retrieval highly preferred
Experience and ability to demonstrated first-hand knowledge in several of these areas: data analytics, modeling, statistical inference, computing, big data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (machine learning, natural language processing, etc.)
Knowledge of Programing skills and demonstrated ability to develop numerical algorithms in at least one of the following languages: Python, SAS, SQL, R, Scala/Spark, Java, and C/C++
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas

Program Overview
Corporate Risk’s externship program is a professional development program that will offer you the chance to discover the world of Corporate Risk at Wells Fargo while enrolled as a full-time student. As an externship participant, you will have the opportunity to learn about the Wells Fargo enterprise, but more specifically work directly within Corporate Risk. We are seeking master’s level students who are focused on pursuing a career in quantitative and data analytics.

Externship Length: October 2024 - March 2025; 20 hours a week while enrolled in master’s degree program in Data Science and Business Analytics
Location: Charlotte, NC
Required:
· 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
