(Internal employees must use the internal link to login & apply.) https://aisd.tedk12.com/hire/internalLogin.aspx Primary Purpose: Implement district dyslexia program by ensuring that federal, state, and district policies/guidelines are implemented and in compliance. Ensuring screening, identification, and development of structures and support of students at risk and identified with dyslexia. Additionally, work with campus staff to ensure interventions and accommodations are implemented. Qualifications:Education/Certification: Texas certification standards required for assignment as set by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Meet NCLB Highly Qualified criteria as required by assignment ESL certification preferred or ESL certification required within two (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 2010-11 school year Bilingual certification preferred Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong knowledge of reading, math and dyslexia instruction across grade levels The dyslexia referral and assessment process for Dyslexia services Strong knowledge of the RTI/MTSS/504/SPED Referral to Evaluation process Understanding of technology and instructional software to support diverse learners Strong written and oral communication skills Supportive of district initiatives Ability to interact with diverse groups of professionals and individuals Exemplary organizational skills Experience: Three (3) years successful teaching or interventionist experience preferred Leadership experience a plus Major Responsibilities and Duties:Program ManagementImplement District Dyslexia Program ensuring that Federal, State, & District policies/guidelines are followed and in compliance Provide direct services in the area of dyslexia/dysgraphia: assessment, identification, intervention, technology, & progress monitoring. Facilitate the RtI²/MTSS process at the campus level (Elementary/Intermediate only) Maintain district dyslexia records and documentation Serve as a resource to RtI²/MTSS/504/ARD committees on dyslexia and related disorders Assist Special Services Coordinator with initial and ongoing professional development for campus staff, parents, & guardians Collaborate with campus administration and SPED staff in the planning, implementation and training for instructional support of students with dyslexia and related disorders Travel among schools may be required Attend monthly professional development and PLCs Other duties as assigned Other Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Evaluation Performance of K-6 Dyslexia teachers will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of teachers and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS). Performance of 7-12 Itinerant Dyslexia teachers will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds) Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
