American Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for a Theatre Teacher at our new Mesa North Jr. High/High school campus for the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.

The Theatre Teacher is responsible for developing curriculum and course materials for Junior High and High School theatre courses.

Classes feature students at all levels, from beginning to more advanced. The Theatre Teacher is a member of the Performing Arts Department and is expected to participate in the development and activities of the Performing Arts program

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Designing and constructing theatrical sets for various productions throughout the year;
• Developing and implementing the lighting design for various productions throughout the year;
• Developing and delivering Technical Theatre curriculum leading students toward mastery of essential skills and techniques;
• Instructing students on the effective, responsible, and safe use of the scene shop and theatrical spaces, including equipment and tools;
• Maintain safe and clean work and storage spaces;
• Effective and efficient organization and operation of the scene shop and theatrical spaces;
• Encourage students to engage in the design process.

The Theatre Teacher position requires Content Knowledge proficiency from one of the following areas:

• Teaching certificate with Theatre Education Endorsement
• 24 college credit hours in Theatre
• Advanced degree in area
• AEPA or NES Subject Knowledge exam
• HQ Teacher Reciprocity
• National Board Certified in area
