2024 Fall Intern - Computational Sciences AI

      Department Summary

The AI, Cloud, and Engineering (ACE) team at Genentech is seeking a highly motivated intern to work on multimodal machine learning methods. Our team is a translational science organization that plays a critical role in Genentech Research and Early Development as well as late-stage development of our products at Roche. We support drug discovery and development projects across all therapeutic areas from discovery to launch and beyond.

We are poised at a unique time when large volumes of complex and varied data in areas such as fluid biomarkers, medical images, PK/PD, wearable sensors, and omics need to be analyzed to ensure that swift interpretation and decision-making can occur. These data impact decisions in ongoing preclinical and clinical programs, and provide key knowledge to inform new drug discovery and development.

Recent advancements in machine learning have led to impressive results in computer vision and natural language processing, where the combination of large amounts of data and computational resources has enabled the development of advanced predictive models. Simultaneously, advances in multiple measurement modalities have enabled us to peer deeper into biological processes and capture unprecedented quantities of data.

In the field of biomedical research, data are often multimodal, partially missing, and challenging to obtain. We are seeking to develop and apply cutting-edge methods to analyze multimodal clinical data, with a particular focus on signal processing from continuous measurements such as digital health technologies.

      What to expect from us:
