      The Program

Do you have an interest in developing your career by being a part of a prestigious three-year Development Program? Would you like to land a private equity role straight from college that usually requires Wall Street experience? If so, we have an exciting and challenging opportunity for you!

      Hamilton Lane, a global investment leader in the private markets sector, is seeking recent college graduates to join our Analyst Development Program. This apprenticeship kicks off with a robust, hands-on training session starting in July 2024 at our Philadelphia headquarters. Within the program, analysts can expect to develop job skills, receive mentoring opportunities, and be coached by some of the industry’s best leaders within the investment teams.

      The Opportunity

      We are looking to hire an Analyst for our Portfolio Management Group team. This team provides insightful, data-driven analysis pertaining to private markets portfolio construction, strategy, and risk . It interacts regularly with our global offices, reacts to external client needs, and provides proactive thought leadership to drive investment selection, client satisfaction and new business development.

      As a first year Portfolio Management Group Analyst , you will work with some of the industry’s most highly regarded and experienced professionals to develop analytical techniques that drive portfolio strategy, investment assessment and portfolio forecasting . You will:

      • Manipulate large data sets and financial models to draw conclusions for use in client deliverables, investment diligence, and other ad hoc projects of strategic importance to the firm;

      • Combine investment acumen with advanced statistical and quantitative analysis to support the investment process and promote the firm as an industry thought leader;

      • Actively develop and expand quantitative and statistical competencies to contribute increasingly advanced concepts, strategic projects, thought leadership, and model development.

      Second year Portfolio Management Group Analysts will continue to build on the skills attained in their first year however, as their skills deepen, they are expected to work more broadly across the global organization contributing to the success of both client and investment focused teams . In their second year, analysts employ a combination of logic, analysis, and guidance to propose solutions to unique, unstructured problems . Second year analysts are more proactive, they recognize when change is necessary and generate new and unique ideas to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of current processes.

      In their third year Portfolio Management Group Analysts lead small teams of junior resources on more complex projects and model development. They are accountable for specific processes and are responsible for the accuracy and effectiveness of deliverables. In the third year, analysts effectively draft and deliver presentations to senior leadership and clients and help select and train internal resources.

      Strong-performing analysts are considered for longer-term careers at Hamilton Lane, with potential for Associate promotions during or after their third year.

      The Requirements

      To be considered for our Analyst Development Programme, we require:

      • Academic performance: Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree (or international equivalent)
      • Subjects: We are interested in applicants who have demonstrated excellence in their chosen subject, have strong analytical talent, and are keenly interested in investments. We will consider all studies with an element of logical reasoning and numerical ability for our program.
      • Technical Skills: experience with financial modeling, basic statistical analysis, and / or data analysis with programming / scripting skills (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) required .

      • Language: Fluent in English, competency in another major language would be desirable.

      We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated:

      • On-Campus Leadership: in clubs, sports, community service, etc.
      • Success in Professional Level Internships: with references to illustrate that success
      • Language Skills: additional spoken and written languages.
