Job Description We are an Enterprise that has always pushed the boundaries of what's possible - not just through our products and technologies but also through Associate growth and development. As Bill Gore once said, "Every time we learn a new skill, some new knowledge and take on a new responsibility, or a new kind of activity, we have promoted ourselves." In this spirit, we encourage Associates to explore outside their comfort zones and seek opportunities that are challenging and that help them reach their sweet spot and grow their contributions to the Enterprise. About the Role: As a Gore intern, you will be responsible for driving one or more projects; some of which you may see through to completion during your internship. You will be encouraged to network and build relationships across functions and plants as well as with other interns. We will provide you with some organized social and networking opportunities throughout the summer to help you build connections with other interns and Gore associates. Working within a multi-functional Information Technology team environment, you will be involved with projects that contribute to the technical group of associates who support a diverse information systems environment. We are looking for students that have excellent interpersonal communication skills, have demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problems solving ability, and who are self-motivated. At Gore, we believe in you as an individual. We value your know-how and ideas. Our goal is to create a positive, respectful workplace in which everyone is treated fairly. If you are searching for a company where you can learn, contribute, and make a difference, we're looking for you! Typical Project Opportunities Application Development/Configuration The application development/configuration area of focus is on designing, configuring, and delivering software. Example technologies used are Microsoft Power platform, SAP S/4Hana and Salesforce. Typical project opportunities include: - IT Applications Development: analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications and/or systems software - IT Systems Analyst: design information systems that are appropriate for users' needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization's information systems architecture - IT Systems Administration: perform systems administration work focusing on configuring, maintaining, and generating reports within IT systems. Information/Cyber Security The information/cyber security area of focus includes vulnerability management, network security, identity and access governance, and incident response. Example technologies used are Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication, Carbon Black, and Ping. Typical projects include: - IT Security Compliance: evaluates and improves processes for investigating, documenting, and reporting unauthorized access or disclosure of protected assets - IT Systems Security Analyst: designs, tests, and implements secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, tuning and management of IT security systems and applications, incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions. Business Intelligence Data Analysis and Data Engineering The business intelligence data analysis and data engineering area of focus is on designing, configuring and delivering data reporting applications. Example technologies used are Python, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, among others. Typical projects include: - Business Intelligence (BI) Data Analysis: analyzing business intelligence data from various sources to inform business and product decisions while partnering with other areas of the business to model the outcome of implementing potential business strategies. - Data Engineering: responsible for design, development and maintenance of data pipelines, software solutions, and data infrastructure to enable data analysis and reporting. Architecture The Architecture area focuses on designing, implementing and overseeing security and business technologies for businesses and organizations - Innovation Architect : use their understanding of the strategic direction of the Enterprise and the supporting systems and architectures to build better IT solutions that drive business decisions. They assist in the definition of the architecture and technology needs of the organization based on new and emerging technologies, and they establish priorities and strategies consistent with business goals and economic viability. - IT Solutions Architect: designs and defines system architecture and solutions for integrating multiple platforms, operating systems, cloud and applications. We expect our internship program for 2024 to include on-site and hybrid opportunities, which will vary by project. You will be required to be on-site some portion of every week. Gore offers a housing allowance to assist with your relocation. Opportunities are available in the Eastern Cluster (Elkton, Maryland; Newark, Delaware), Flagstaff, Arizona; and Phoenix, Arizona. As a reminder, Gore's intern program is intended to identify individuals for potential employment upon graduation and therefore requires that all candidates are authorized to work indefinitely without visa sponsorship within the U.S. after graduation. Gore does not provide sponsorship for visas to work in the U.S. for these roles. If you would require employer sponsorship to continue to work in the U.S. upon graduation, Gore would not be able to consider you for a position upon graduation, and therefore, we would ask that you withdraw from the interview process for a summer intern position. An Optical Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment that is directly related to an F-1 student's major area of study and provides up to 12 months of OPT employment authorization for students before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies. OPT does not provide authorization to work indefinitely without visa sponsorship within the U.S. Candidates relying on OPT for permission to work in the U.S. for an intern role would not have authorization to work indefinitely without visa sponsorship within the U.S. upon graduation and therefore, we would ask that you withdraw from the interview process for a summer intern position.
