      The Role:

      Moderna is a fast-paced biotechnology company. The objective of this Internship at Moderna is to gain a high-level understanding of vaccine development, particularly in the areas of infectious disease epidemiology. The Intern will learn how a biotechnology company assesses and reviews epidemiologic information and data to inform the strategic direction of our clinical development programs.

      The Intern will work on the Infectious Disease Epidemiology team at Moderna. In particular, the Intern will support a Lead Epidemiologist on a variety of studies and projects to support the clinical development of various vaccines (e.g., SARS-CoV-2, influenza, RSV, CMV, EBV, others).

      This position will run from June 3rd-August 16th, 2024. You must be available and onsite for the entire duration of the internship program.

      Here’s What You’ll Do:

      • Learn how Epidemiology supports all phases of vaccine clinical development

      • Conduct infectious disease epidemiologic surveillance and research for one or more of Moderna’s vaccine programs (e.g., respiratory viruses, latent viruses, others)

      • Lead or support analyses and interpretation of observational data, such as electronic health and claims data

      • Support local evidence generation in critical global markets

      • Work alongside the cross-functional team and key functional leads.

      • Develop a base knowledge of mRNA drug development and decision-making for vaccine development programs

      • Participate in team discussions with other functions, such as Health Economics Outcomes Research, Integrated Evidence Team, Medical Affairs and Clinical Development Leads on evidence generation strategy and value proposition

      Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

      • Currently enrolled candidate for PhD, MPH, MS in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, global health or pharmaceutical-related field.

      • Epidemiology, biostatistics, and infectious disease modeling concentration, experience, or interest preferred.

      • Minimum GPA 3.4.

      • Strong interest in learning about epidemiology, biostatistics, public health surveillance, vaccine clinical development as a career

      • Must be curious, eager, open to learning, collaborative and independent.

      • Technical skills: MS office and especially excel. Able to use SAS or R to process and analyze epidemiologic data. .

      • Personal attributes: meets timelines, team player, ability to take direction, good communication skills, can work under pressure and meet urgent deadlines.

      • Authorized to work in the U.S
