      Job Summary:

      This is an onsite position in State College, PA. Anticipated start date will be summer 2024. In the Java Software Engineering role, you will design, develop, and test Java code in a Linux, Agile, DevOps environment. We are at the forefront of aerospace and defense technology. Our Satellite Ground Systems Team plays a pivotal role in ensuring communication, surveillance, and defense capabilities through cutting-edge satellite systems.       Responsibilities to Anticipate:

      • Object-oriented Java programming
      • Ability to design, develop, and maintain new software functionality
      • Ability to work with previously written code and make modifications as necessary
      • Ability to work closely with other disciplines (systems and test engineers) to troubleshoot and fix problems
      • Enthusiastic and energetic performer able to work in a dynamic, fast paced, and sometimes pressured environment
      • Team player incorporating a team-based success philosophy
      • Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under the specific guidance of his/her immediate supervisor
      • Ability to follow established SW processes and procedures, development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment level), external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering work products/artifacts
      • Relocation assistance available provided final candidate meets eligibility requirements

      Basic Qualifications:

      Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

      This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

      • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
      • Ability to perform object-oriented software design and development using Java in a Linux environment using unit testing tools (e.g. JUnit)
      • Ability to perform Agile software development
      • Experience with source control tools such as GIT
      • Experience with development environments such as Eclipse
      • Ability to create and maintain multi-threaded applications; knowledge of UML and software design patterns
      • Experience with scripting such as BASH
      • Enthusiasm and drive to succeed; ability to communicate effectively in a team environment

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl and Python.
      • Proficiency in DevOps technologies such as Puppet, Chef, and Docker
      • Experience developing software in AWS
      • Experience using Ansible, Jenkins, and the Atlassian tool suite
      • Experience with the Spring Framework
      • Practical experience with specific technologies such as databases, distributed architectures, web-based technologies, cloud technology, user interfaces/portals, and familiarity with software design/implementation tools.

      Additional Information:

      Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
