Responsibilities H Barritt Peterson & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Towson, MD, is hiring a rising 3L Summer Law Intern (Class of 2025) for their 2024 Summer Intern Program. Our internship program strives to provide a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, as well as real-world exposure to a multitude of legal services being provided. The selected individual will have exposure to litigation and trial practice along with the opportunity to work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe various stages of litigation, and will have a designated mentor throughout the internship. The internship has a full-time schedule in the summer beginning Monday, May 20, 2024, through Friday, August 2, 2024, with the potential to transition to a part-time schedule during the 2024/2025 school year. The Summer internship will be a hybrid (combination of in-office and remote) opportunity and is a paid internship at $30/hour. The intern selected for the position will also receive a $2000 internship stipend. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organization skills, an energetic/positive attitude, legal research knowledge, and the ability to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced working environment. Located in Towson, MD, the Baltimore Claim Litigation office enjoys an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment with skilled support staff. Office Location: 210 West Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite 300, Towson, MD 21204 Qualifications Must be currently enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA law school and must remain enrolled as a student for the duration of the internship. 2L students in the top half of their class Strong research and writing skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated interest in Litigation Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work opportunity.
