The Design Intern will be responsible for supporting the Design Team in all aspects of the design development process.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with design team to assist with new style development
• Ability to translate design direction from Sr. Designer into full color Illustrator flat sketches.
• Hands-on experience with tech pack preparation: Compile fabric/trim information for BOM chart completion, input garment construction and measurement details for sample prototype.
• Daily maintenance and upkeep of digital design boards & linesheets.
• Supports Design team with sample organization of seasonal product. Photographing and logging all proto samples.
• Organize and maintain fabric, trim, and sample libraries.
• Actively participate and take detailed notes in meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be entering Senior year or semester of Bachelors (or Associate) degree program with a major in Fashion Apparel Design
• Must have ability to sketch by hand and/or with Illustrator
• Must be proficient in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and Word
• Must have strong interest in fashion design, commercial color sense, pattern merchandising ability, and general market knowledge
• Passion for fashion, retail, and process improvement
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business

Work Schedule

The 2024 Summer Internship at Forever21 is a full-time opportunity of approximately 40 hours per week for a period of 8 weeks. Forever21 currently observes the following hybrid work model for employees at our HQ in DTLA Los Angeles:

• Remote optional: Mondays & Fridays
• On-site days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
• The description for hybrid will vary by role

The salary for this position is $20.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to position offered and work experience. In addition to your salary, Forever 21, and its affiliated brands, offers a generous employee discount program for interns.
