      THE OPPORTUNITY

      Colliers Mortgage is seeking the next generation of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) leaders for our 2024 Summer Internship Program. Under the guidance of top industry professionals, this program will be focused exclusively on teaching the intricacies of CRE debt and equity transactions. It will provide real world training in the critical role commercial mortgage banking plays in connecting borrowers with lenders and serving as a trusted advisor to the complex process of securing commercial real estate financing.

      THE PROGRAM

      Spanning roughly 10 weeks from June until August, you will be assigned to 1 of 4 specialized teams but exposed to the full scope of what it means to work in this exciting and evolving industry. You will also receive structured weekly classroom lectures from our senior staff to ensure a wholistic overview of the business.

      By the end of this internship, you will have gained a professional understanding of:

      • How the Commercial Mortgage Banking Industry Works!
      • The CRE Lending Process - from Prospect to Payoff
      • Sources of Real Estate Capital (Agency/HUD, Life Insurance Companies, Debt Funds, Banks, Credit Unions, and Conduit lenders)
      • Establishing and Maintaining Client Relationships
      • Public Finance
      • Affordable Housing
      • Real Estate Appraisals
      • Capital Needs and Environmental Assessments
      • Loan Servicing and Asset Management
      • Industry Trade Groups and Designations

      PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

      • Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g. real estate, finance, business administration)
      • Interest in the commercial real estate finance industry demonstrated through relevant coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities
      • Strong analytical and finance skills, with the ability to make sense of and tell a compelling story with numbers
      • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
      • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with some advanced knowledge of various finance and/or accounting functions (real estate modeling experience will be viewed as an asset)
