- Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification
- Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology
- Able to work with students with significant behavioral needs
- Trained in CPI or other crisis intervention program
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities
- Experience working with behavior and social skill intervention techniques preferred
- One of the primary purposes of this position is to assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.
- Assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with these students.
- Work closely with administrators, teachers and the counselor to create and monitor student behavior contracts.
- Work closely with teachers to develop behavior interaction plans for students.
- Monitor student behavior in the building and in SAC.
- Maintain SAC/discipline folder for all students placed in SAC.
- Maintain file of student work completed in SAC.
- Enter data in the computer concerning discipline actions. Observe students in the classroom and monitor the progress of students that have been assigned to SAC.
- Assist with the arrival and dismissal of students.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
