      MS/HS Social Studies Teacher

      The Position: This is a secondary social studies position, meaning you will predominantly teach multiple middle and high school levels of social studies. Newhalen School currently has an enrollment of 82 students, K-12.

      Reports to: On-site or Itinerant Principal

      Salary: Appropriate Placement on Teacher’s Salary Scale

      Closing Date: February 13, 2025. Open until filled afterwards.

      Starting Date: August 25, 2025

      QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

      SALARY:

      Accepting all AK teaching experience, and up to six years out of state experience, for initial placement. Starting at $51,259 (BA+0yrs) to $86,408 (BA72/MA36+13yrs).

      SCHOOL YEAR: LPSD operates under a “Subsistence Calendar” in which students receive 150 days of instruction, and the teacher obligation is 172 days, one of the shortest in the nation. Teachers start in late August, and are done in early May!
