      IT Information & Technology Specialist III
      Location: Information Technology Department
      Timesheet: Grade 26/28 rate of pay

      Purpose Statement

      The job of IT Information & Technology Specialist III is done for the purpose/s of supporting the educational process with specific responsibilities for implementing network applications throughout the district; resolving network operational issues; providing technical support to students, community, district and site staff; and coaching and training others.

      This job reports to Director of Information Technology or designee

      Esse ntial Functions

      Assists end-users in identifying software, hardware and connectivity problems for the purpose of finding appropriate solutions and ensuring services.

      Assume the principle role and/or serve on a team with other personnel throughout the district for the purpose of embracing technical and logistical directions from/to a colleague.

      Coaches and trains others (e.g. site staff, vendors, contractors, PVUSD employees, community, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing District technologies and information systems.

      Implements all technology tasks, projects and initiatives everywhere the district has an identified business need for the purpose of providing direction, advice and support.

      Implements all information systems (e.g. student information systems, data warehouses, telecommunications, main frame operations, department budgeting/financing systems, state/federal reporting systems, video/surveillance systems, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing services throughout the district.

      Installs and configures interfaces of network applications and associated hardware for the purpose of ensuring efficient communications.

      Integrates information technology for the purpose of providing all learning, teaching, office and school environment throughout the district face to face and virtual and hybrid models.

      Maintains network applications (e.g. asynchronous and synchronous connections, digital systems, voice, data, video, collaboration, communication, messaging, student records, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the delivery of services and achieving overall objectives of the department.

      Prepare written materials (e.g. procedures, system level documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.

      Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. staff, administrators, school site personnel, vendors, contractors, community, etc.) for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.

      Troubleshoots malfunctions of network hardware and/or software applications within the district's analog and digital networks for the purpose of resolving operational issues and restoring services.

      Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

      Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

      Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

      SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing pertinent network, application, operating systems; monitoring and troubleshooting software; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records.

      KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current, legacy and emerging operating systems; environments and network protocols; technology hardware; Inter/Intranet applications; data synchronization; data security, project management, processes and methodology.

      ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities; multi-tasking; establishing effective relationships; being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; conveying technical information to non-technical audiences; work in flexible shifts, including but not limited to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; maintaining a positive rapport with students, staff, employees, and community.

      Responsibility

      Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

      W o r k Environment

      The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.

      Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
