      Please note: This posting is for a 12-month Student PEY 2025 placement with a start date of September 2025 and end-date of August 2026.

      In order to be eligible for this 12-month Student position, you must be enrolled in a Professional Experience Year program and either:

      • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2026; or
      • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in September2025/August 2026), but you require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

      What is the opportunity?

      The Next Best Action team here at RBC, which is part of the Personal Banking organization, is responsible for running day-to[1]day marketing campaigns and marketing experiments for our banking clients. Our Data Innovation team is the responsible for maintaining the ecosystem that runs daily that drives our NBA or “Next Best Action” initiative. Our ecosystem is a mix of big data pipelines, machine learning models, full stack (front-end and back-end) applications and microservices. We are looking for an intern to contribute and build upon the ecosystem with collaboration with our technology/business partners across the bank. In addition, we believe this is an awesome opportunity to learn about a different production system within the marketing sector, a unique blend of a start-up within a large organization, as well as an opportunity to learn and flex into different areas of the ecosystems or additional projects of interest.

      What will you do?

      • Evolve the existing machine learning systems to be make machine learning processes scale to be quicker, more reliable and if applicable autonomous or semi-autonomous
      • Manage, optimize, oversee and monitor data & model pipelines as well as the UI and processes used to inform client campaigns decisions related to Next Best Action recommendations
      • You will play an integral role in engaging your critical thinking, time management and design skills within your team.

      What do you need to succeed?

      Must-have

      • Experience with Python, Scala or equivalent
      • Experience with SQL or similar
      • Experience shipping software in the one or more of the following areas: ○ Big data processing (Spark, Hadoop or equivalent) ○ Data Warehouses (Teradata, SQL Server, Postgres or equivalent) ○ Data Quality Engineering ○ Building and/or maintaining ML models
      • Designing solutions with the user's experience in mind
      • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
      • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

      Nice-to-have

      • Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
      • Experience with developing LLM and AI Agents
      • Experience with real-time streaming technologies
      • Experience with Airflow and other scheduling tools
      • Experience with other database technologies (noSQL, graph databases, vector databases etc.)
      • Experience with continuous integration and development tools
      • Development in mobile or web development
      • Experience in financial services industry with broad understanding of marketing, product management, sales, finance, pricing and risk management
