      Private Capital Advisory Summer Analyst Role

      Analysts at Harris Williams play an integral role in all the firm’s M&A and private capital advisory activities, working alongside seasoned banking professionals. As a Private Capital Advisory Summer Analyst, you will work on live deals and deal proposals on both our Fund Placement and Capital Solutions teams based in our New York office. Projects will include:

      • Client due diligence

      • Industry research

      • Financial analysis and modeling

      • Developing written materials, including offering memoranda and new business presentations

      Fund Placement Project Management:

      The project management team within Harris Williams’ fund placement function offers interns the chance to engage directly in the fund formation and capital raising process for premier private equity firms worldwide. The position offers candidates the chance to take on a great deal of responsibility, work directly with senior professionals and clients, gain exposure to multiple industries, and have a direct impact on the success of our business. The project management team manages all aspects of a private equity fundraise including:

      • Advise on positioning

      • Prepare of marketing materials

      • Coordinate investor meetings with the distribution team

      • Fulfill investor due diligence requests

      • Prepare marketing and pitch materials for prospective clients

      Capital Solutions:

      The Capital Solutions group is focused on the execution of secondary transactions and co-invest placements. The group manages all aspects of each transaction process with the goal of creating bespoke solutions to accomplish widely varying client objectives. The Summer Analyst will:

      • Advise on creative, tailored private equity liquidity solutions

      • Perform comprehensive due diligence on a fund’s underlying portfolio companies

      • Write and produce marketing materials

      • Structure and coordinate a transaction timeline

      • Analyze and compare potential bid pricing, terms and provisions, and participate in closings

      Harris Williams hires individuals who are accomplished both inside and outside of the classroom. Eligible candidates should be working towards or already possess a Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher as a prerequisite. No specific academic major is required; however, basic knowledge of finance and accounting is desired.

      Training & Development

      Our internship kicks off with one week of training, covering financial modeling and setting the foundation for the robust deal work ahead. During the 10 weeks, Summer Analysts develop their business communication, strategic thinking, modeling, and client-facing skills by working on live deals with seasoned professionals.

      Mentorship

      Mentorship – both formal and organic – is critical to our people’s success. Summer Analysts are assigned mentors who provide a support network during the internship. Our lean deal teams, apprenticeship model, and flat organizational culture ensures you will also find additional mentors along the way.

      Roles at this level are filled by recent university / college graduates with little or no professional experience, but possessing relevant skills. Includes individuals joining the organization through a Corporate development/ training program. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
