  Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a county department, networking, professional development, and building lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Manatee County team members.

  • Program Dates: The 2025 internship program will begin on May 19th, 2025, and end on August 8th, 2025.
  • Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
  • Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.

  Our intern will be working closely with the GIS Analyst in property management and public works identifying ADA compliance of public sidewalks and crosswalks. The duties will be to collect gathered data of compliant and non compliant sidewalks/crosswalks and build a database with our ADA Consultant to include the deficiencies in our Federally required ADA Transition Plan. 60% of the work will be in the field and 40% in the office.

  Department Responsibilities:

  1. ADA Compliance county wide.
  2. ADA accessibility of public and county-maintained sidewalks.
  3. ADA accessibility and compliance of county-maintained crosswalks.
  4. Identify the deficiencies of ADA Compliance and include in our ADA Transition Plan
  5. Manage and update our living, federally required ADA transition plan.

  Internship Program Responsibilities:

  • A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
  • Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.

  About You

  Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable)
  • Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
  • Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
