      Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a county department, networking, professional development, and building lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Manatee County team members.


      • Program Dates: The 2025 internship program will begin on May 19th, 2025, and end on August 8th, 2025.
      • Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
      • Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.

      Answer important questions on the historic water quality of Manatee County streams. rivers and bays. Monitoring program records from Manatee County span decades. A subset will be selected for this project. Interns will apply modern Data Science principles to organize and communicate results in a public digital archive.

      Department Responsibilities:

      • Assistance finding a suitable dataset for the project.
      • Introductions to local professionals.
      • Project oversight and guidance.
      • Things to know about water quality assessments.
      • How to share project findings on a public archive

      Internship Program Responsibilities:

      • A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
      • Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.
      • High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable)
      • Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
      • Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
      • Competitive wages starting at $14.00 hr.
