- Process all orders placed directly through the Protolabs website. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Analyzing CAD models, including, but not limited to: wall thickness, small holes and slots, and general manufacturability.
- Setting optimal orientation of customer parts for best build and mitigation of possible defects.
- Offering suggestions for file modifications to improve their manufacturability
- Assist the applications team with quotes to ensure customer receives the most accurate quoted price by providing them with part/geometry expertise and advising them on changes as necessary.
- Analyze all orders submitted by the Applications team for potential build issues and advise or fix them as necessary.
- Analyze all orders tagged during Risk Assessments to ensure resolutions are effective.
- Provide part/geometry expertise for applicable technologies to all departments and advise them as necessary.
- Edit customer CAD files that may be sub-optimal so that they are able to build in our technologies (repair part files).
- Identify and manage workflow for high-value projects, including but not limited to manual pricing and lead time generation (where applicable)
- Assist and advise in developing guidelines for analysis, scheduling, prepping, and other processes for new technologies
- Assist leadership in maintaining a safe and productive workplace by delegating tasks and working alongside team leads
- Assist Schedulers with scheduling orders as workload requires.
- Assist Build Prep Technicians with build preparation issues and questions, and assist in prepping builds as workload requires.
- Investigate and troubleshoot build defects/failures to determine the root cause and provide a resolution.
- Conduct experiments and use test builds to solve build issues and proactively enhance build styles.
- Provide production support and day to day problem solving.
- Carry out measurements and specifications from customer drawings to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- At least 1.5 years’ experience as a Build Prep Technician in designated technology (internally)
- 3D CAD design experience
- Demonstrated ability to identify scheduling constraints and effectively communicate with Production Management, Process Engineering and Finishing Lead/Supervisor in order to minimize lead time of large production runs
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, communication skills and work well in a team environment
- Experience with a Windows computing environment as well as the ability to learn custom software packages
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently

What You'll Do
Role Overview:
The Technical Operations Analyst will use the expertise of their respective technologies to perform advanced analysis of customer parts to ensure quality orders are submitted to scheduling. Once parts are built, they are responsible for troubleshooting builds defects and assessing prep jobs for opportunities for improvement. The schedule will be Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm in our DMLS department.

Physical Demands:
