Ensuring adherence to safety standards in accordance with company policy and legislated requirements;
Verifying railcar numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars;
Connecting, disconnecting, gauging, and sealing LPG railcars as the loading process requires;
Performing railyard switching operations required to position railcars at various stages of the operation;
Interacting with CN and PMC staff regarding receipt, inspection, and shipment of railcars;
Performing mechanical troubleshooting for respective loading equipment; performing pump and valve maintenance;
Safety system testing and periodic inspection/calibration of equipment; and
Understanding the flow rates of product in conjunction with car loading and movement in order to meet daily loading requirements.
Minimum Grade 12 education;
Industrial trades experience considered an asset;
4th class power engineer preferred;
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs considered an asset;
1–3 years of previous loading or rail operations experience preferred, with a strong safety orientation;
Ability to confidently and accurately calculate figures and amounts relate to proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume;
Self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to work with minimal supervision;
Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
Effective written and verbal communication skills;
Maintain permanent residency within 100km of the Sarnia facility;
Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks;
Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing;
Compliance with the Company’s requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE; and
A valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract is a condition of employment.

Plains Midstream Canada is currently is looking to fill the position of Rail Loader at our Sarnia Fractionation facility. As a member of the Sarnia Operations Team within Unifor Local 200, the successful candidate’s duties will include, but are not limited to, performing daily railcar loading activities at the Sarnia facility in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures.
This is a position that requires shift work on a rotating, 12-hour basis. This position is a fixed term position of 6 months with health benefits, vacation time, and the opportunity to join a fantastic team environment.
