Job Description

- Responsible for developing and managing the Group Equality Plan setting out how the Group will address opportunities and issues relating to equality.
- Analyse and evaluate data from a wide range of sources to support and inform decision making at local level in relation to disparities in equality to eliminate any unlawful discrimination.
- Use information, data and trend analysis to actively ensure establishments understand the position of Equality issues within the establishment.
- Produce a monthly Equality Analysis Report and disseminate it as required to establishments for action.
- Contributes to establishment Equality Committee as lead specialist and be responsible for offering advice and support when addressing issues raised.
- Responsible for ensuring establishments are aware of what is required for it to meet its legal obligations under relevant equality legislation.
- Responsible for carrying out equality related assurance and audits and reports findings to the Prison Group Director.
- Responsible for developing links between other Regional teams and local groups to aid and improve the knowledge and understanding of different equality strands.
- Provide advice and guidance to the establishment on current trends and issues as an Equalities specialist.
- Attend meetings and forums where required and represent the Group.
- Works closely with the Group Safety team and Group Assurance team to ensure equality is embedded in all aspects of service delivery.
- Responsible for acting as the subject matter Lead in the Group providing advice and recommendations to the Prison Group Director and Establishment Senior Management Team.
- Overseeing implementation of a new system including data migration.
- Responsible for providing responses to directorate and ministerial requests relating to Equalities.
- Works closely with litigation lead on equality related litigation.

Overview of the job
This is a non-operational role working as part of a Regional team lead by the Prison Group Director.
Summary
The job holder will lead on progressing, embedding and monitoring equalities delivery for the Group giving assurance to the Prison Group Director.
The job holder provides complex, detailed and sometimes tactical advice to Senior Managers. In addition, the job holder will act as a central point of contact between internal and external stakeholders.
The job holder will provide a service to establishments by retrieving and analysing complex equality data, identifying disparities within the data and report findings to establishments. The role will also provide regular data analysis identifying key trends and risks to the Group Director.
The job holder is responsible for managing, collating and verifying databases to ensure the timely and accurate production of regional and local statistics/data to support the Directorate/group objectives.
The job holder will be overseeing Group equalities strategy and will contribute to revisions of local policies and procedures.
The post will provide a strategic focus on Equalities in all areas for both staff and offenders. The role supports both Establishments and regional priorities.
This is a non-operational job with no line management responsibilities.
