      Pay: $81,411 – $105,810 (depending upon qualifications)

      Benefits: Qualifies for full-time benefits date of hire

      Location: City Center

      Hours: Standard business hours (8am-4:30pm), may vary based on business need

      Reporting Relationship: Reports to Support Operations Lieutenant

      Police Department

      The Eden Prairie Police Department is comprised of the Patrol, Investigations, and Support Divisions who protect and serve Eden Prairie residents by providing quality law enforcement services through active and professional engagement. Eden Prairie’s Police Department is committed to offering a customized service to the community, exercising discretion and fairness in enforcement, building public trust in the department, and promoting the professional development of its members.

      Position Responsibilities

      The 911 Emergency Communications (ECC) Supervisor oversees all operations and supervision of staff related to the Communications Center, including but not limited to preparing work schedules and shifts, prioritizing, and assigning duties, administering training programs and performing regular duties of Public Safety Telecommunicators. This position is also involved in short and long range planning of future communications equipment needs, as well as maintenance and upgrades of current communications equipment. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:

      • Prepares the annual scheduling bid packet and sets the schedule for Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) for a one-year period with updates weekly.
      • Handles job performance issues for Emergency Communications Center (ECC) employees, including, but not limited to: performance evaluations, citizen complaints, recognition for performance excellence, and corrective measures for unsatisfactory performance.
      • Prepares bi-weekly payroll/timesheets for all ECC staff.
      • Operates, monitors, and maintains equipment status of computer databases, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), radio and multi-line telephone systems.
      • Maintains compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations as they relate to the ECC and CJIS Security.
      • Is available to provide assistance with employee, technical, or other problems that arise in the Dispatch Center; performs PST duties when necessary; represents the Police Department at meetings related to 911 and PST training.
      • Plans and conducts training sessions as they relate to the area of dispatching; functions as Terminal Agency Coordinator for the BCA; ensures accuracy of all records, manuals, required trainings and biennial BCA Audit, ensures all Police personnel are trained/tested in criminal justice security awareness and access to criminal justice databases.
      • Organizes and disseminates phone and radio audio recordings for evidentiary purposes.
      • Responsible for 911 ANI/ALI maintenance. This involves submitting discrepancies with ANI/ALI displays and following up with subscribers to ensure resolution.
      • Co-leader of the internal radio use group which is responsible for ensuring proper radio use (talk groups, patching, language, etc.).
      • Coordinates 911 public education presentations for special events.

      Position Requirements

      Education: An associates degree or higher preferred or 40 hours of emergency related leadership training preferred.

      Work Experience: At least five (5) years of 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicator experience required. Supervisory experience in a related field preferred or at least two (2) years of Eden Prairie 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicator experience preferred.

      Physical Requirements: Physical effort is light for the majority of work with lifting or carrying limited to 25 pounds intermittently. Report preparation and writing at times requires extended use of a keyboard. Work interruptions are frequent. Frequent time spent on the phone using a headset.

      Working Conditions: Most work is performed in a normal office environment. The job may involve dealing with and calming individuals who are emotionally charged over an issue or in an emergency situation.
