      About the Position

      The Associate Dean directs the academic design, delivery and accreditation of academic programs for a portfolio of programs within a college, including development and monitoring of related curriculum, policies, procedures, and standards.

      What You’ll Do

      1. Lead the development of a defined portfolio of academic programs and their policies, procedures, and relating to specific programs within a college. Monitor academic and program delivery standards through the assessment of necessary academic requirements and provide guidance, information, resources and support to operational staff as appropriate.

      2. Understand and monitor the impact of industry standards and accreditation needs on program design, development, assessment and revision. Provide evidence as required for new and ongoing accreditation efforts.

      3. Work with subject matter experts and instructional design, curriculum, learning assessment, accreditation and academic operations staff to design, revise, and evaluate specific degree and certificate programs on a continual basis. Manage a budget for related program resources and materials.

      4. Participate in the design and evaluation of the specific program’s missions and related strategic plans on a continual basis. Define effective, objective, and measurable goals to support the department’s mission, vision and strategic plans.

      5. Monitor student learning outcomes for programs within portfolio and analyze outcomes data for use in continuous program improvement. Identifies and implements strategies for program maintenance and revision based on data provided from shared services groups related to health of programs and assessment.

      6. Monitor retention performance and enrollment trends in the programs in order to address program performance issues. Recommend and act on necessary changes to improve total enrollment and retention metrics.

      7. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. May supervise and monitor the professional competence component of staff, students and faculty.

      8. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

      Supervisory Responsibilities

      May include direct supervision of management and support staff.

      MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

      • Master's Degree in appropriate discipline

      • Five (5) years of experience in a field related to the content of the academic programs, including teaching and/or administration at a regionally accredited college or university

      PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Doctorate degree preferred

      • Ability to demonstrate a high level of conceptual and strategic thinking

      • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

      • Working knowledge of personal software packages to prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations, project management, and reports

      • Basic knowledge in the areas of academic development and evaluation, adult education principles and practices, and curriculum development

      Pay Range

      The annual pay range for this position is $98,000 (minimum), $148,100 (midpoint), and $198,200 (maximum).*

      *Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
