Position Summary

We are seeking an Ab Initio developer with skills in Unix and SQL as well as knowledge of ETL processes to work for a bank in Melbourne.

Mandatory Skills

• Have solid hands-on experience of data engineering/ETL principles and practices with Unix/Linux, Ab Initio and other data integration tools and frameworks.
• Are confident demonstrating coding, design, debugging and problem-solving skills
• Pride themselves in the ability to mentor and provide technical assistance to team members.
• Are knowledgeable to apply and promote industry best patterns and practices.
• Have solid experience in developing and deploying high quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage without supervision.
• Are comfortable with estimating development effort for new features
• Have the ability to lead Level 3 or above support and technical troubleshooting activity.
• 6+ years of overall experience with majority experience as Ab Initio Developer.
• Should have extensive hands-on experience working on latest Ab Initio suite of products viz. GDE, Co>Op, EME, Plans, Control Center.
• Work experience on version 3+ would be preferred.
• Hands-on experience in advanced Ab Initio concepts including PDL, Meta Programming etc
• Knowledge/Work experience on Express>It BRE, Query>It would be preferred.
• Extensive experience working with UNIX Shell Scripting
• Should have knowledge in Data Warehousing, Unix.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum based projects.
• Ability to work under tight time constraints with changing requirements in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Roles And Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy ETL solutions using Ab Initio tools such as GDE, Plans, EME, m-hub, and DQE.
• Collaborate with solution architects to translate high-level designs into detailed technical solutions.
• Write and optimize SQL queries and Unix shell scripts to support ETL processes.
• Implement Ab Initio components, including PSETS, PDL programming, and meta-programming.
• Utilize Ab Initio parallelism techniques for optimized data processing.
• Assist in migrating and running Ab Initio solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS and containerized environments.
• Perform unit testing and validate results to ensure quality and compliance with requirements.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, including ETL design documents, deployment guides, and runbooks.
• Participate in code and test case reviews to ensure standards and best practices are followed.
• Identify and address technical issues or risks during the project lifecycle proactively.

Salary Range: >$100,000
