Empower Students: Drive engagement and empower students to achieve their academic and career goals
Build Relationships: Play a vital role in maximizing undergraduate student retention by building strong relationships with students
Clarify Pathways: Help students navigate procedures and academic requirements for specific programs or majors

Initiating, building, and maintaining effective relationships
Researching information to meet situation parameters
Collaborating with others within and across departments/groups
Actively listening to determine speakers’ goals, needs, and/or challenges
Knowledge of student development in higher education
Ability to lead students in developing education and personal goals
Student Guidance: Review academic records, counsel students on course selection, and provide input on probationary decisions
Student Success: Engage with students through various outreach methods, keeping them informed of important deadlines and resources
Progress Monitoring: Track students’ academic progress, identify those needing additional support, and refer them to appropriate resources
Event Planning: Assist in organizing advising and retention events, such as New Student Conferences and first semester advising
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and updated records of student interactions and advising notes
Professional Development: Participate in up to 20% training annually, including advisor onboarding, departmental training, and national advisor meetings
Business Honors – Our students maintain academic excellence and achieve 100% job or graduate school placement. Freshmen enter as Business Honors majors and can double major in fields like Accounting, Finance, Management, MIS, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management, completing both majors in four years. Additionally, students can pursue minors, certificates, and 4+1 master’s programs.
Undergraduate Advising Office – Undergraduate students receive customized academic advising from the Business Honors program staff.
Student Experience Office - Texas A&M and Mays Business School are committed to providing high-impact learning experiences to students at all levels. The Reliant Student Experience Office leads several of these high-impact opportunities for Mays undergraduate students, including Business Fellows, Business Honors, and the Freshman Business Initiative. We also partner with and promote the special programs housed in other departments.
