Veritas Press is a Christian organization dedicated to providing the best classical Christian education materials and services anywhere. We are in need of Academic Advisors to assist our Dean of Students, Headmaster, and VSA Staff with servicing our Classic and Premium full-time students.
Description:
The Academic Advisor works with Veritas families in regards to the academic goals and needs of their students, and provides a line of communication and administrative assistance between families, Veritas Press office, and Veritas Scholars Academy instructors to ensure student success. The advisor serves as an expert on Veritas curriculum (K-12), classes offered, graduation requirements, as well as on college entrance requirements and scholarships.
An advisor will provide one of two levels of service to families: Classic and Premium.Classic Service
Once a year, the advisor meets with the family for an hour to discuss a course plan and schedule classes for the upcoming year, to ensure that the student is where they should be in terms of graduation requirements, and to answer any academic inquiries the family might have. The advisor will update student files and share any pertinent information necessary with teachers and Diploma staff. A phone call is made before the start of the school year to ensure no changes need to be made to the Course Plan. At mid-year the advisor will check in with the family and the student’s teachers to be sure the student’s needs are being taken care of. If the student withdraws from the program, the advisor processes the paperwork. A total of two hours are allotted per classic student.
Premium Service
A relationship with a Diploma family is established with the advisor for the year. The Advisor will meet with the family to create or update the student’s Course Plan. The Advisor assists the family logistically with class registration and curriculum ordering. The Advisor formally checks in with premium families at the end of each quarter, and families may check in with their advisor any time they have a question or concern related to the school and their student’s performance. The advisor communicates with applicable teachers any information helpful to ensure the best possible experience for the student. The Advisor will help process all paperwork for the student and offer expert college and scholarship advice including writing recommendation letters. If the student withdraws from the program, the advisor processes the paperwork. A total of eleven hours are allotted per premium student.
