      Job Summary


      The Academic Program Manager (APM) develops, coordinates and executes undergraduate and graduate programming for the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS) within the College of Liberal Arts. This position, reporting to the Head of School, will take a leadership role within the department working closely with faculty, students, and staff. The APM will be charged with interpreting research and teaching across multiple disciplines within the School, to help develop programming for undergraduate and graduate programs. The APM will oversee administration of academic programs and implementation of the Head of School’s initiatives, working independently to create spreadsheets, manage data, and write reports to inform decision-making about the program. The APM will have functional supervisory responsibility over support staff and administrative supervision over student staff with duties related to academic programs. This position may teach the equivalent of 3 credit hours per semester in the College of Liberal Arts.

      Required:

      • Master's degree or other advanced degrees in social sciences or a related field
      • One (1) year of related experience
      • Communications, administrative, student services, or office management experience
      • Equivalent combination of experience and education will be accepted
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint / Filelocker, and ability/willingness to learn other job-specific skills.
      • Exceptional interpersonal skills, especially the ability to interact professionally and collegially with diverse faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members.
      • Excellent communication, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills, including relationship building with internal and external constituents.
      • Ability to manage competing demands; prioritize and organize work assignments; supervise staff effectively and work independently to meet deadlines.
      • Ability to manage, analyze, and interpret data.
      • Comprehension of electronic and social media communication tools.
      • Initiative and willingness to learn new skills, embrace changing technology, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures.
      • Ability to exercise professional judgment and solve problems independently.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • Knowledge in one or more of the School’s subject areas of academic procedures and structures.

      Preferred:

      • Curriculum development and classroom instruction experience and evidence of an excellent record in higher education instruction
      • Ph.D. preferred
