- Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review documentation of disability, including psychological, medical, academic and educational assessments, and develop reasonable accommodations plans for students.
- Coordinate services and equipment necessary for reasonable accommodation(s).
- Serves as a liaison and a resource for students with accommodations, University faculty and staff.
- Ensures that all constituencies – internal and external – have accurate information about resources and services offered (including website, learning platform, prospective student materials, etc).
- Works with all offices who have a role in supporting students with accommodations to coordinate and provide appropriate resources and services.
- Coordinates testing accommodations and administers examinations, including the Accuplacer exam.
- Ensures compliance with ADA and Section 504.
- Prepares and maintains records within compliance with ADA, 504, and University standards (using appropriate databases and other recordkeeping systems, such as Maxient).
- Creates and submits status reports to the Director when requested.
- Participates in continuing education and stays abreast of best practices and legal regulations related to ADA and Section 504.
- Plan and implement an outreach based on the office’s strategic plan to aid in the promotion of Kōkua ʻIke, in conjunction with the Academic Coach Coordinator and Career Pathway and Success Coach.
- Participate in the development and implementation of programs in relation to retention, progression, and graduation of specialized student populations, specifically Apo Haumana.
- Collaborate with Academic Advisors, Academic Coach Coordinator, and Career Pathway and Success Coach on workshops & presentations as requested.
- Maintain data regarding use of all test administration services, as well as updating related policies and procedures.
- Provides logistical and administrative support for official academic ceremonies such as commencements, convocations, and award events. Responsibilities may include coordinating event setup, preparing materials and signage, managing guest lists, assisting with regalia distribution, and serving as on-site support during ceremonies to ensure events run smoothly and in accordance with institutional protocols.

- Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, human resources, or other related field is required.
- A master’s degree in educational administration, academic/career counseling, educational leadership, education, or another related field.
- Two-years work experience in teaching, counseling, or administration in higher education is preferred. Excellent working knowledge of computers; strong communication skills – written and oral; group facilitation skills; experience in staff supervision. Experience working with Pacific Islander, Asian American, and local Hawaii students is highly preferred. The successful candidate will value the developmental opportunities of a small campus setting, enjoy working on a team, be able to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks.
- Physical Requirements
- Candidate must be able to traverse the campus, stoop, bend, climb stairs, lift approximately 10-20 lbs., stand for prolonged periods of time, and have finger dexterity.
- This position also requires the ability to communicate verbally, clearly and effectively with students and colleagues, and to hear and understand.
- Other Requirements:
- This is a full-time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule; however, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends, and have a varying schedule when required.

As a member of Kōkua ʻIke, this position is responsible for establishing appropriate accommodations for students in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 , as amended (Section 504); overseeing test administration; and advising students on academic and personal matters. In addition, the Accessibility Services Coordinator works closely with the Academic Coach Coordinator and Career Pathway and Success Coach to oversee daily functions of Kōkua ʻIke: Center for Student Learning. This position also has administrative responsibilities that run in conjunction with these efforts, and other duties as assigned by the Director.
