      Position Summary

      The Senior Accident Benefits/Loss Transfer Claims Analyst is responsible for handling Accident Benefits benefits for Commercial Auto claims varying severity from MIG to CAT and Loss Transfer Claims in accordance with all AIG Operational / Best Practices Guidelines. This would include determining coverage, participation in LAT Case Conferences, attendance at mediation/settlement conferences and instructing independent adjusters and attorneys in the negotiation and settlement of claims. Claims are primarily in Canadian venues, with limited worldwide exposures.

      About the role

      • Review commercial auto claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coverage.
      • Compliance with the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule.
      • Provide direction to independent adjusters on investigation of claims.
      • Provide instructions to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claims.
      • Ensure compliance by legal counsel of our litigation guidelines.
      • Participate in LAT/arbitration/global mediation processes to bring about resolution of claim.
      • Negotiate settlements directly where possible.
      • Issue payments within appropriate time frame.
      • Operate within our best practices guidelines, including timely reserve review, notes, payment requests, electronic diary .
      • Inform management of all complaints, large losses, coverage issues, etc.
      • Maintain good rapport and close working relationship with business partners including underwriters, brokers, insureds and claims vendors.
      • Stay abreast of legal developments which affect the insurance industry in general, as well as those which are specific to commercial auto claims.

      Ideal Candidate will Have:

      • Minimum 6+ years handling Accident Benefits Claims.
      • Experience handling Loss Transfer Claims is an asset.
      • College/University or equivalent industry experience.
      • CIP designation is an asset.
      • Ability to make decisions and give directions to independent adjusters and/or defense counsel.
      • Must be a quick learner with strong communication and negotiating skills.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills.

      Travel:

      Approximately 10% to attend ADR/LAT/Global mediations
