      Position Overview

      The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Audit Approval Unit Account Technician. Under general supervision, this position will perform technical accounting and auditing functions involving the maintenance of complex state and federally funded accounts for the Department. The position will review and substantiate approval of vouchers for assigned Department accounts and will review transactions to determine authenticity, propriety, and compliance with rules and regulations. The position will also serve as liaison with central office/regional accounting staff in an advisory capacity regarding errors, methods of correction, etc. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is focused on ensuring that accounting processes are fulfilled in an efficient, effective manner.       Job Responsibilities

      1. Serves as Audit Approval Unit Account Technician

      2. Reviews documents for compliance with DCFS’ internal policies and procedures, including the utilization of a computerized accounting system that requires various documents to be cost coded with a complex coding scheme designating a fine breakdown of expenditures

      3. Serves as liaison with central office/regional accounting staff in an advisory capacity with regard to document errors, methods of correction, and interpretation and implementation of rules and regulations established by regulating agencies or bodies such as CMS, the Comptroller, etc.

      4. Analyzes voucher documents to determine proper coding in preparation of voucher approval log to generate final Department approval

      5. Investigates payment problems and submits vouchers to the comptroller

      6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

      Minimum Qualifications

      1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three years of related bookkeeping experience

      Preferred Qualifications

      1. 2 years of experience in an office setting applying working knowledge of accounting techniques

      2. 2 years of experience in an office setting applying working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures

      3. 2 years of experience in an office setting utilizing working knowledge of office methods and procedures
