- Under direction, independently performs technical accounting work in the examination and reconciliation of a high volume of complex vendor invoices before approval.
- Prepares and communicates financial information to others, distributes mail, and maintains Accounts Payable records.
- Communicates with Comptroller’s Office, Agency Bureaus, and vendors regarding vendor certification and payments.
- Assists in the development, improvement, and recording of accounting procedures and methodologies.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and one year of technical accounting experience or four years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
- Prefers two (2) years’ professional experience working with and applying accounting techniques and procedures.
- Prefers two (2) years’ professional experience working with and applying laws, rules, and regulations relating to state governmental accounting procedures.
- Prefers two (2) years’ professional experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as Systems Applications Products (SAP), database management systems such as HANA, Statewide Accounting Management System (SAMS), Excel, Word, Outlook, or other comparable software.
- Prefers two (2) years’ professional experience performing detailed work involving the application of accounting theory to moderately difficult accounting or auditing problems, including reconciling financial data.
- Prefers working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
- Prefers two (2) years’ professional experience establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Prefers two (2) years’ professional experience performing detailed work that involves written or numerical data and making arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately, either manually or by machine
- This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Office of Finance and Management is seeking to hire an Account Technician II to serve in the Accounts Payable Unit. Under direction, this position reviews invoices before approval for payment, serves as liaison between the Comptroller’s Office and Agency Bureaus for vendor certification and payment discrepancies, communicates payment information to others, distributes mail, and maintains manual Accounts Payable records. An ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong communication skills, and have experience with the operating systems and software used by CMS, or comparable accounting systems and software experience.
