Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.This is a highly responsible accounting position within the Medicaid Federal Reporting Unit Itis responsible for professional accounting work in managing the fiscal reporting actives for the Medical Assistance Program and Medicaid State Children’s Health Insurance Program within the Medicaid Federal Reporting Section of the Financial Management Section, Division of Fiscal Management of the Office of Management and Finance, LDH. The work involves office responsible for maintaining the Medical Assistance program with emphasis on planning, coordination and controlling the financial management functions to insure the proper reporting and utilization of these Federal financial resources. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the Federal Reporting section with the production of the quarterly Federal Medicaid expenditure reports. The work is performed in accordance with State and Federal laws, departmental policies and procedures, and reviewed on the basis of results, reports and by outside independent audit, both Federal and State. The accounting activities required of the incumbent are complex in nature and cover a multiplicity of accounting functions. General direction is received from the Accountant Manager 1 and the incumbent exercises wide latitude of independent judgement in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Accountant 3 – $22.82 hr / $1,825.60 bi-weekly
Accountant 4 - $25.21 hr / $2,016.80 bi-weekly
This position comes with a Premium Pay Rate of up to $2.00 per hour for hours worked only and based on years of service at Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) within the specified titles, Accountant 1-4:
0 months to less than 2 years - $1.00/hour
2 years to less than 4 years - $1.50/hour
4 years or greater - $2.00/hour
