      The Opportunity

      The US Transportation Accounting-West team seeks a motivated accountant who has knowledge and experience in regulated accounting, and has the skills, competencies, and capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment. The team seeks a candidate who is not only adept at handling accounting tasks but is also keen on identifying opportunities for process optimization and adept at crafting comprehensive reports. The position is located in Houston, TX.

      This accountant participates on a team dedicated to providing a seamless interaction with internal and external customers that is market-driven, revenue oriented and dedicated to providing maximum customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for revenue and volumetric accounting and ensuring the accurate reporting of revenue and volumetric data to internal and external customers for several pipelines. The accountant collaborates closely with various departments including Measurement, Legal, Regulatory, Commercial Services, Marketing, and Contracts to guarantee data precision. In addition to the core responsibilities, this accountant plays a pivotal role in enhancing process efficiencies and is actively involved in process improvement initiatives. The individual is also tasked with the critical function of developing and executing ad hoc reports and analyzing the resulting data, as well as report writing, ensuring clear and concise communication of financial data and insights.

      What you’ll do

      • Prepare and analyze monthly revenue and volumetric accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of reporting
      • Record and report on monthly volumetric flows, maintaining data integrity,
      • Reconcile reported transactions with source systems
      • Coordinate the timely preparation of transportation and storage invoices on a monthly basis
      • Coordinate with Legal/Regulatory teams to compile and submit fuel filings,
      • Perform quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations with precision and attention to detail
      • Analyze customer transportation activity to promptly resolve billing disputes and maintain customer satisfaction
      • Provide valuable recommendations within established accounting procedures to drive process improvements
      • Respond to audit inquiries and perform SOX Controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
      • Other tasks as required

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
      • Minimum four or more years of relevant experience
      • Knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting rules and regulations
      • Advanced proficiency in Excel including expertise in VLOOKUP functions and pivot table analysis
      • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to develop effective solutions
      • Keen attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities, with a data driven mindset
      • Adept at managing multiple assignments with varying priorities and deadlines, demonstrating excellent time management skills
      • Ability to work independently, thrive in a team environment, and collaborate cross-functionally
      • Customer-centric approach, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service

      Preferred Qualifications

      • In-depth knowledge of regulated gas transactional systems, demonstrating a strong understanding of the industry’s operational landscape,
      • Proficiency in SAP accounting software, showcasing the ability to leverage technology for efficient financial management,
      • A proactive mindset and keen desire to embrace new technologies: and
      • Work experience in the natural gas industry, with a comprehensive understanding of the sector’s unique challenges and dynamics.
