Job Description

- Prepares and enters purchase requisitions, processes invoices, reviews PO balances and enters each transaction on an Excel spreadsheet for monthly reconciliations. Researches outstanding balances and notifies vendors of payment status, approves requests on PeopleSoft, prepares invoices, disbursement vouchers, and general recharges and follows up on each to ensure payment.
- Processes travel and/or expenses for Isenberg Faculty, Ph.D. students, staff, undergraduate students, non-employees and honorarium; (i.e. Certified Travel Preparer), ensures timely payment to UMass Bank Card and/or to individual, owner of UMass Bank Card and notifies faculty of new or changes to travel policies and procedures.
- Serves as Procard Records Manager, reconciles charges to each monthly statement and signs off on completion; reallocates Procard charges as needed, submits copies to auditor if requested and maintains confidential Procard files.
- Maintains, monitors, and creates specialized reports for Isenberg accounts such as Revenue Based, RTF, Gift, CEI, Grants and Awards, reconciles quarterly to PeopleSoft to ensure all funds are accounted for, researches and corrects any discrepancies and maintains sub-accounts as needed for internal use.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, consistent with position level.
- High School Diploma and two (2) years’ full-time bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard bookkeeping/accounting procedures and ability to work accurately with figures and maintain accurate records.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of computerized spreadsheet software and ability to work in a computerized environment.
- Ability to use discretion in handling confidential material.
- Ability to work with office team members.
- Flexibility with workflow for needs of the business unit.
- Ability to organize/prioritize work and ability to give oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use independent judgment on various issues.
- Completion of training for modules of PeopleSoft, Summit, and BuyWays, Administration and Finance and Human Resources, Purchase Order input related tasks and Bank Card reallocation.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of the Isenberg School of Management and the University to offer guidance to faculty, students and visitors.
- Knowledge of the University’s and Isenberg financial policies and procedures.
- Certification as Certified Travel Preparer.
- Monday – Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
- This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the University Staff Association, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the University Staff Association collective bargaining agreement, therefore.

Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Isenberg School Assistant Dean of Financial Operations, the Accountant I organizes and monitors the financial operations and fiscal management of school funds, reconciliation of accounts including Revenue, Gift, Continuing Education Incentive, Research Trust Fund Return, General Operating Funds, Faculty Start Up and Grants, travel and expense processing, departmental procurement, accounts payable/receivable and student payroll.
