      Job Overview

      The Accountant I in the Inventory department of Gross Margin ensures the accuracy and reliability of financial and systemic records pertaining to merchandise item reporting files within the financial cost accounting system. They assist with financial inventories and RFID cycle counts, updating results, conducting analytics, and reporting to various stakeholders. Additionally, they investigate variances, test system enhancements, and fulfill other related duties. This role supports their People Leader in ensuring the accuracy of internal and external systems through design, testing, and monitoring procedures. It requires adept use of accounting principles and data analytics for both routine and ad hoc tasks. Furthermore, the Accountant I contributes to Companywide initiatives through testing, reporting, and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs). This position is based in Springdale, Ohio, with the possibility of remote work for colleagues.

      What You Will Do

      • Conduct weekly reconciliation between the cost inventory system and unit merchandise databases, investigating any discrepancies and initiating necessary fixes or enhancements.
      • Take part in reconciling financial inventories, preparing and approving adjusting entries, and ensuring the balance of inventory systems.
      • Support all facets of the company's RFID program, including reporting, analyzing results, collaborating with vendors, developing software, and contributing to the design and testing of new technologies and initiatives.
      • Participate in defining and reconciling RFID cycle counts, conducting analyses, recommending adjustments, and providing support for unit adjustments.
      • Generate financial analyses, develop and execute SQL programs to extract data from various datasets, maintain these programs as needed, and implement changes as processes evolve.
      • Oversee the management of merchandise allowances from retail to expense/balance sheet, ensuring correct taxation for awards.
      • Manage the financial aspects of the merchandise loan room for Corporate Marketing and Events.
      • Conduct analytical reviews, test, and implement system enhancements, assist in developing methodologies, and support training activities.
      • Assist their People Leader with tasks related to company initiatives and projects, including reporting, testing, and analysis.
      • Take part in financial system design and testing, support system rollouts across the organization, and provide assistance to users as required.
      • Maintain regular, dependable attendance, and punctuality.

      Skills You Will Need

      Financial and Systemic Record Management: Ability to ensure accuracy and reliability in financial and systemic records related to merchandise item reporting files within the financial cost accounting system.

      Financial Analysis and SQL Proficiency: Ability to generate financial analyses, develop and execute SQL programs to extract data, maintain programs, and implement changes as processes evolve.

      Analytical Review and System Enhancement: Proficiency in conducting analytical reviews, testing, and implementing system enhancements, as well as assisting in developing methodologies and supporting training activities.

      Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly in meetings with colleagues both within and outside the Gross Margin Department.

      Mathematical Aptitude: Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to apply concepts of profitability, statistical inference, algebra, and geometry to practical situations, as well as calculating interest, discounts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

      Excel Proficiency and Database Knowledge: Proficiency in Excel is required, and knowledge of database queries and SQL is strongly preferred.

      Organization and Attention to Detail: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on maintaining accuracy in all tasks.
