- Maintain general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Develop general ledger trial balances; maintain budgetary controls.
- Prepare a variety of financial reports and statements to illustrate financial disbursements and balances.
- Maintain accounting controls of fixed assets.
- Audit cash receipts; check codes and cashier validation numbers.
- Audit receipts of outside organizations, such as motel and hotels for tax verification.
- Audit petty cash and expense statements.
- Coordinate accounting activities with other City departments, divisions and sections.
- Assist in the supervision and training of administrative support staff.
- An equivalency statement from an evaluation company certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) at http://www.naces.org/members.html or the Association of International Credential Evaluators Inc. (AICE) at http://aice-eval.org/members/ .
- An advanced-level degree from an accredited US college or university.
The City of Riverside, Finance Department is accepting applications for the position of Accountant II to fill one (1) vacancy. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
Under general supervision, an Accountant II will perform professional accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records and the preparation of financial reports; and perform other similar duties as assigned.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, or a closely related field.
Experience: Two years of professional accounting experience comparable to that of an Accountant I in the City of Riverside.
