      The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business seeks a full-time Accountant. This position is responsible for providing finance and accounting support associated with all Iowa JPEC programs requiring a high degree of discretion and independent judgment. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversight of the financials, including grant awards. This position is a liaison between program staff and the University Shared Services staff and plays a critical role in making sure the proper accounts are used and policies adhered.

      Specific Job Duties and Tasks

      • Reconciliation of the Transaction Detail Reports.
      • Encumbrance oversight for closing and research of remaining balances.
      • Updates salary reconciliation master’s for faculty, staff & students monthly.
      • Upload financial data from the general ledger to departmental databases for monthly report creation/distribution.
      • Create slides as directed by leadership from financial data for board meetings, etc.
      • Maintain records documentation of accounting transactions.
      • Counsel and provide liaison with Iowa JPEC program staff regarding updates on p-card and travel policies.
      • Run CashNet daily report, moving revenue to appropriate accounts as necessary.
      • Process web change vouchers for any financials hitting on accounts incorrectly.
      • Provide routine financial information to all program staff such as new coding master for new fiscal year, year-end deadlines, updated policies, and order/receiver training.

      This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location .

      Salary: $42,000-$45,000

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


      Education Requirement

      • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Required Qualifications

      • Typically 6 months - 1 year related accounting or administrative experience.
      • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications: Excel, Word and Access Database,
      • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written with a population of varying perspectives.
      • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
      • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and use resources with limited guidance.
      • Team player, able to work effectively with others required.
      • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.

      Desired Qualifications

      • Demonstrated knowledge of financial processes & procedures (General ledger, grant accounting) at the University of Iowa.
      • 5 or more years accounting experience/ grant accounting.
      • Excel & Access Database proficiency with advanced features.
