As an 87-bed, Joint Commission-accredited facility specializing in long-term acute care, we understand the unique needs of our diverse patient population.
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day activities of our Accounting Department. Your primary responsibility will be to provide effective leadership, guidance, and unwavering support to our dedicated accounting team. Together, we ensure accurate and timely payment processing, maintaining a seamless flow of financial transactions. You will be instrumental in the requisition and inventory process within Meditech, a critical component of our operational efficiency.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
· Provide effective leadership, guidance, and support to the accounting team.
· Oversee accurate and timely payment processing.
· Assist with requisition and inventory processes in Meditech.
· Utilize Commonwealth Information Warehouse (CIW) reports for financial data analysis.
· Compile and analyze data for annual Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) reports.
· Prepare documentation for Cost Reporting as requested.
· Reconcile variances through collaboration with key stakeholders.
· Maintain and balance encumbrances to meet hospital needs; notify purchasing of any variances or needs.
· Ensure departmental policies in Policy Tech are current and accurate.
· Attend relevant trainings and mandatory meetings.
· Monitor and approve staff time, including requests for time off and bi-weekly payroll reporting.
Required Qualifications:
· Knowledge of the principles, practices, and terminology of accounting.
· Skilled in reading and interpreting documents such as financial reports, accounts, and ledgers.
· Strong analytical capability to assess and determine the relevance of accounting data, draw informed conclusions, and provide suitable recommendations.
· Familiarity with understanding, applying, and explaining the laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing assigned unit activities.
· Proven ability to maintain precise records and execute mathematical calculations to resolve accounting challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation or equivalent certification.
· Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an accounting department.
· Proficiency in using financial software and accounting systems, including Meditech and Commonwealth Information Warehouse (CIW).
· Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience preparing GAAP reports.
· Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
· Experience in cost reporting and familiarity with healthcare accounting practices.
· Proven track record of effectively managing and developing a team of accounting professionals.
· Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial information to diverse stakeholders.
· Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and precision in financial reporting and analysis.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in accounting or auditing, of which at least (B) two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate's degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*
III. A Graduate degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience and one year of the required (B) experience.*
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required (B) experience.
