Job Description

- Oversee the month end closing and consolidation process to ensure all deadlines are met accurately and timely
- Loading consolidated financial results in HFM
- Perform analysis and reconciliation of general ledger activity
- Records complex accounting transactions including the preparation and posting journal entries
- Generates financial accounting system reports and queries
- Supports internal and external audit requirements
- Evaluate, analyze, and implement changes to policies and procedures to drive efficiencies in revenue and cost reporting
- Supports OSI Finance in engaging with internal stakeholders to identify areas of improvement for processes or reporting and maintain strong collaborative relationships
- Ensure processes are regularly evaluated and tested through various initiatives to ensure strong internal controls are in place for the given processes
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with 6+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting role or equivalent education/experience
- Experience and familiarity with financial systems and ERPs
- Strong Financial Acumen and experience working in complex Accounting/Financial Environment
- Experience with monthly close and journal entries
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teams
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications required (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge on how to run and execute a project plan (ERP integration, Automation technology)
- Ability to adapt easily to new procedures, policies, and systems
- Strong working knowledge of financial systems and accounting fundamentals
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
- Provide support for cash forecasting
- Ability to manage in a high volume, fast paced changing environment
- Master's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or CPA/CMA Certified
- Experience with HFM
- Experience with Oracle ERP system
- Experience with government accounting
- Experience in chemical manufacturing sector
- Demonstrated experience performing accounting services as a defense/government contractor in a governmentally regulated and compliant organization, specifically DCAA
- Experience with ERP System rollout
- Previous experience executing process improvements within the organization
- Experience with dealing with auditors both internal and external
Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Accountant to join its organization.
You will report to the OSI Finance Manager and will oversee the closing and consolidation for the Holston and Radford locations.
You will manage the general ledger and associated transactions that impact the general ledger balances, oversee the correct creation of general journal entries, and posting to the general ledger.
You will provide guidance and mentoring of employees within the accounting and finance department.
