Job Description
- Req#: 4989896
- Performs accounting activities including but not limited to reconciling bank and other accounts; developing and maintaining a centralized invoicing function for all foundations, food service vendor, bookstore, etc.; and preparing year-end receivable accruals.
- Makes journal entries daily and verifies codes.
- Assists individuals who experience difficulty editing Excel journal entry templates.
- Prepares annual regulatory reporting.
- Responsible for record retention.
- Provides clerical assistance, including filing, scanning and office organization.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, theories and best practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex accounting data; analyze financial transactions and prepare appropriate journal entries; and generate computerized accounting reports and records.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public.
- Sufficient technical skill to master required software.
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accountant performs general accounting functions for the university and enters data into the finance system.
Experience in governmental or not-for-profit accounting.
