- You will serve as senior accountant responsible for maintaining an entire accounting program characterized by a number of operating accounting systems and related programs.
- You will lead or conduct complex studies and analyses of accounting operations and furnishes accounting and financial statements, reports, and other accounting information.
- You will provide expert interpretation of accounting reports, statements, and other accounting data to leadership and/or program managers.
- You will advise management officials in applying financial data and information derived form sources such as statements, reports and ratios.
- You will establish and maintain liaison with DFAS operating accountants and management officials.
- You will develop and monitor general ledger posting logic change requirements for BUMED's operating accounting systems.
- You will monitor obligations, expenditures, and/or work year limitations for assigned accounts.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This is a Financial Management Level II certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
- Conducting complex studies and analyses of accounting operations, financial statements, and other accounting information for a command.
- Identifying accounting and financial statement requirements of stakeholders and present solution alternatives for selection and approval.
- Managing the implementation of changes to processes and procedures within the financial management system.
- Utilize data analytics tools/software to track, monitor, and/or build financial dashboards and queries to support financial reporting requirements.
- Providing expert interpretation of accounting reports, statements, and all other accounting data for a command.
- Conducting special studies and gathering data from field activities to resolve variances or to solve complex problems for a command.
- Interpreting complex accounting policy and internal control guidance to develop implementation plans for corrective actions.
- Providing expert interpretation of accounting reports, statements and all other accounting data for a command.
- Analyzing current business and accounting processes for efficiency, internal control compliance, and compliance with accounting standards using data analytics software/tools.
- Resolving system accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
You will serve as a ACCOUNTANT in the Accounting Division, Assistant Chief for Resource Management of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.
