The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accountant Senior within the Transportation Department. The incumbent for this position will perform advanced professional accounting work under general supervision. Performs a variety of professional, complex, and responsible grant accounting and statistical analyses. The incumbent will apply generally accepted accounting principles and practices in maintaining fiscal controls and grant records. In addition, prepares transactions, analyzes accounting data, evaluates procedures, prepares a variety of financial and program status reports, reviews and approves requisitions and accounts payable vouchers, prepares reimbursement requests, refunds, and adjustments, maintains financial records in a computerized database and/or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Lastly, prepares grant reconciliations and close out reports for various transportation grants.
General Description
Advanced professional accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records; may supervise staff.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance; or a Bachelor’s degree and coursework that qualifies for the CPA Examination.
Requires two (2) years professional level accounting, finance or closely related experience; including six (6) months of lead/supervisory experience depending on area of assignment.

Processes/records financial transactions including reviewing/approving various accounting documents such as journal vouchers and cash receipts.
Reconciles and monitors revenues and expenses of various funds, prepares a variance analysis and prepares schedules for external auditors.
Prepare monthly, quarterly or annual reports required by County Administrative Policies and Procedures and/or external parties.
Review and approve payroll and vendor invoices for the Division.
Prepare sales and fuel returns on a monthly basis.
Assists in the preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and State of Florida Annual Financial Report.
Maintain customer table, including setting up new customers and/or updating existing customer information for all County agencies.
May assign, review, and approve the work of support and professional staff.
Performs related work as assigned.
