      Salary Range: $110,266 - $122,058 + super

      Employment Type: Full-Time, Ongoing

      Location: Darlinghurst (current office attendance is 3 days per week)

      About this role

      You will be working in a close-knit team environment to support all aspect of delivering accurate financial and management accounting services, reports, advice and support to management to enable well-informed business decisions to be made and ensure financial performance is consistent with best practice.

      About Us

      The Personal Injury Commission (Commission) resolves disputes between people injured in motor accidents and workplaces in NSW, insurers and employers.

      The Commission is an independent statutory tribunal within the New South Wales justice system, committed to providing a transparent and independent dispute resolution service.

      Resolving disputes justly and efficiently in the shortest time frame is a priority for the Commission. We work with all parties (injured persons, insurers, and employers, where relevant) to discuss ways of achieving this.

      The Commission exercises functions in two divisions – the Motor Accidents Division and the Workers Compensation Division. You can read more about the PIC here .

      In this Role, your key accountabilities will include:

      • Prepare regular and timely reports, submissions and analysis of organisation’s finances and financial performance to ensure accuracy of information, accounts payable and compliance and the ability for management and the business to effectively respond to changing circumstances and developments and inform decision making
      • Provide advice, financial analysis and/or costing of business unit initiatives and projects to maximise opportunities for approval and to ensure commercial viability
      • Contribute to the preparation of on-time submission and statutory requirements with expected standards
      • Prepare journals, accruals and perform month end/year end activities
      • Prepare audit files and liaise with auditors when required.
      • Contribute to the development, review and documentation of accounting policies, procedures and processes in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines to ensure compliance and improve performance
      • Contribute to the preparation of various financial reports and submissions including business cases, briefing notes and meeting minutes to ensure accuracy of information and on-time submission
      • Provide input for reports, application of charts of accounts and financial key performance indicators
      • (KPI's) to ensure compliance, improved performance and organisation’s objectives are met
      • Monitor, review and analyse financial systems and databases to generate reports that provide accurate advice and information for staff, customers, management and/or external agencies

      To be successful in this role you will demonstrate that:

      • Degree in relevant finance, accounting, or similar discipline
      • Eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
